Beverley and Allan Waters

Beverley and Allan Waters - owners of Harmans Ridge Estate, grew up in Perth.

On marrying in 1970 they left Perth to live in London for 2 years to explore their passion for music and travel. (They are from the 60’s after all!)

On returning to Australia they set up Rock on Records. Selling out of the record stores in 1987 Beverley and Allan set up Silver Screen Video. This was sold in 1989 and they started the Jumbo Video chain eventually having seven stores. In 1998 the video stores were sold and Beverley and Allan decided to develop their property in Margaret River.

Margaret River’s first contract winery was then built and began operating in February 1999. The winery’s mission was to provide facilities to small growers who did not wish to have a winery of their own. In 2000 the Harmans Ridge Estate label was born after a contract to supply Virgin Airlines with 5000 cases of Shiraz. This label has developed along with sales into the USA, UK, Singapore, Thailand, Spain and India.

In late 2003 the idea for the Howling Wolves label was hatched by Allan along with Vaughan Sutherland and Damian Knowles. The brand was named after the legendary blues singer Howling Wolf, a favourite singer of Beverley, Allan and Vaughan.

In February 2004 the cellar door was opened. Beverley then designed the Howling Wolves range of merchandising now available through cellar door and by mail order. The Howling Wolves label is now distributed Australia wide as well as in the USA, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and India.
